Little Petra; not a hair band
Siq al-Barid, or Cold Canyon is “Little Petra”, and similar to big Petra. Can’t tell you much about it; Samy’s not real good on the history (he was a mechanic/gas station/convenience store mgr in Orange County for

10 yrs, before coming back to Jordan to run his own restaurant for 8 years or so — he knows some history, but honestly, I don’t believe most of what he tells me); and there’s not much in any easily available guidebook. Frankly, I think Samy could tell me more about Alice Cooper and AC/DC (and, horrors, even Michael Bolton) than he can about the Nabateans — but that’s alright.
And it’s cool; there are definitely some interesting remnants of what looks like paintings alongside the Nabatean sculpting and the black soot of Bedouin fires; and it was free (unlike the big “P”, which was about equal to a Disneyland park admission — for SoCal residents).
And here’s a random shot of something you see when driving down the freeway in Jordan; this sure ain’t Kansas, Toto. And yes, all those artists, ahem, shared hairstylists, once. (Samy told me he used to have a mullet!!!)
